Burial will be in Tifereth Israel Cemetery, with military honors accorded by the Duluth Combined Honor Guard. Deceased Name: GERALD ALAN ''IKE'' EISENBERG

Gerald Alan ''Ike'' Eisenberg of Plano, Texas, formerly of Duluth and Golden Valley, surrounded by family, peacefully ended his valiant struggle against a neurological disorder July 28, 2004.

Beloved son born May 2, 1935, to Eve and Louis Eisenberg.

Thought by all who met him to be a ''very nice guy'', Jerry was a four sport athlete at Duluth Central graduating in 1953. He went on to the University of Minnesota as a Williams Scholar, played football, was a member of Phi Epsilon Pi and successfully completed R.O.T.C. training, going on to attain the rank of 2nd Lt. in the U.S. Army. In 1956, he married Chelle Yellen and they were blessed with two sons. Jerry earned his B.S. Degree and his work endeavors were many beginning as a World History teacher at Superior Central H.S.; sales rep forJohnson Bros. Liquor Co., and Midwest Wine Co., Mgr. of Elks Club/London House and F&B Director of the new Normandy Hotel as well as owner of the Red Lion Lounge. In 1969, Jerry married Marion Payne, adopting her two young children and they successfully ''blended'' a family in days when that was unusual. In 1978, Jerry took on a new venture as owner of MAGGIO'S downtown Minneapolis enabling him to establish long lasting friendships with a group of supportive and loyal friends....''Those were the days my friend, we thought they'd never end.'' Upon retiring in 1998, Jerry and Marion moved to the Dallas area to get to know new grandchildren being born there after helping raise their three eldest grandchildren. The bad news ''neurological illness'' came blasting into Jerry's life about that time; The first reaction as Marion tried to find milder diagnoses/ prognoses, was ''we can beat this''. They slowed it but couldn't defeat it.

Jerry's loving survivors include his devoted wife of 35 years, Marion; children and families: David and Traci Eisenberg, Matthew and Blake; Bruce and Lisa Eisenberg, Jacob, Benjamin and Elyssa; Linda and Donald Rora, Joey, Cymone and Chris; Tim and Susy Eisenberg and Tim's daughter, Katie Oakland; aunts Jenny Bergal and Betty Eisenberg; cousins, and many good friends with whom he enjoyed a ''classic'' time over many years.
